Many of us have experienced, or will experience, a traumatic event in our lives. These events can have lasting effects on the psyche, triggering seemingly insurmountable mental issues including anxiety attacks, nightmares, flashbacks and generally bad thoughts.
Seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can truly benefit those who continue to deal with these unfortunate thoughts and triggers. This can eventually lead to a better state-of-mind and improved functionality in daily life.
Brian Stalcup provides psychotherapy treatment for those dealing with PTSD, specifically through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
Over the years, Brian has served as a clinical director of a women’s treatment center, worked at a communal health center and helped veterans. He has assisted a number of individuals with PTSD. The EMDR treatment has proven effective for those dealing with trauma-related disorders.
EMDR is a unique form of exposure therapy which uses eye moments to retrain the brain’s response to memories of the event in question. Brian will use this approach, or other indicated approaches, in hopes of benefiting your situation.
Brian strives to provide a comforting, relaxing and encouraging environment for all his clients in need of assistance. PTSD can be crippling, confusing and painful. Working with Brian can help you find peace with the situation and newfound comfort through a renewed mental state.
I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This is an evidenced based therapy that has been studied to relieve, and sometimes eliminate, the symptom of PTSD and anxiety disorders in as little as one session. This therapy can also be used for many other mental health disorders. Please call me for further details.
